My children rescued a cat last week. Really. Never mind that we already have two cats... and two dogs. I told my daughter that Midnight the cat was a Christmas gift. And I meant it. This cat just happens to show up, injured, the week before Christmas... and my children just happened to notice that the neighbor was feeding it. I don't believe in accidents- or coincedence.
They begged me to heal it. I believe my son said I had to heal it since I know how to heal. Well. How do you argue with two children who are actually united, for once, in a cause as worthy as the rescue of another living being?
So Midnight the cat is here. Tomorrow I'll post a picture of him. Black and white, long fur, white paws, white bib and white whiskers. A cat of considerable size and since he's come to live with us I do believe his size is increasing with the regular meals. I know I've been feeding him extra food "just in case". I can only imagine what they've been giving him to eat when I haven't been around.
And as for the other cats and dogs, they're interested in him but have been keeping their distance. Mr. Tish (our male cat) is willing to share vittles. Cookie (his wife) isn't sure why Midnight is here. Our dog Montana wags at him while Midnight mutters back. And Taco, our Chihuahua hasn't even noticed him- even when he slept on top of her.
I know Midnight loves us. We're treated to daily comments and purrs. Apparently we also aren't clean enough to suit him since he baths us every chance he gets. This week I'm going to repay the favor, he still smells like cat. No fleas thank God but after spending most of his time outside he definitely needs a bath- right after he finishes healing from his trip to get neutered. Don't ask how we knew he had to get neutered. You can guess.
So at our house this Christmas season we have another soul living under our roof. One my daughter most assuredly says belongs under our roof. And he does.... meowy Christmas~
